Molecular Genetics, Genomics, and Bioinformatics Graduate Program

Molecular Genetics, Genomics, and Bioinformatics Header

Overview| Course of Study | Research Focus Areas| Curriculum Details

The post-genomic era provides us with phenomenal resources like genome sequences, genetic engineering technologies, and transcriptomic profiles and creates a new discipline for the 21st century.Molecular Genetics, Genomics and Bioinformatics PhD Graduate Program The Molecular Genetics, Genomics, and Bioinformatics (MGGB) track capitalizes on recent advances in bioinformatic analysis of genomic and postgenomic data and expands our understanding of basic genetic processes and molecular medicine. World renown scientists are investigating areas of research that include the Human Microbiome Project, development and evolution in model organisms, functional genomics and proteomics, Bacterial and Archaeal microorganisms, cancer genomics and infectious diseases

Faculty mentors in this track are leaders in their respective research areas and reside in various departments in the School of Medicine and Dental School, the Institute for Genomic Sciences (IGS), the Institute of Human Virology (IHV), and the joint University System of Maryland’s Marine and Environmental Technology Institute.
