Research

My clinical and research interests continue to center on DNA interactive molecules. The information  we have gleaned from past and ongoing research shows interesting opportunities  may exist to tailor molecules to affect gene activities in specific cell types. Lexotropsins are molecules that can "read" and bind to DNA nucleic acid sequences  and bind to specific genes.  In binding to a specific gene, through the molecular structure of the lexotropsin and the type of binding,  the interacton may have a different effects on the gene activity,  either blocking the gene action or modifying it otherwise. Several of the most active anticancer agents have lexotropic properties and this property is an important to their anticancer action.
