The Graduate Program in Molecular Medicine at the University of Maryland Baltimore offers research and training opportunities with internationally-renowned scientists. Our Molecular Medicine Program is an inter-disciplinary program of study leading to a Ph.D. or M.S. degree in Molecular Medicine.

There are three different tracks, Molecular Genetics, Genomics and Bioinformatics, Molecular Physiology and Pharmacology, and Cancer Biology within the Molecular Medicine graduate program.

The Graduate Program in Molecular Medicine combines traditional areas of biomedical study, including Molecular and Cell Biology, Pathology, Pharmacology and Physiology into a unique interdisciplinary research and graduate training program that is ideally suited for developing scientists of the post-genomic era.

Faculty mentors in this program are leaders in their respective research areas and reside in various departments and Organized Research Centers in the School of Medicine and Dental School, the Institute for Genomic Sciences (IGS), the Institute of Human Virology (IHV), and the joint University System of Maryland’s Marine and Environmental Technology Institute.

The over 150 faculty in the Graduate Program in Molecular Medicine are internationally recognized for their research in biotechnology, cancer, cardiovascular and renal biology, functional genomics and genetics, membrane biology, muscle biology, neuroscience and neurotoxicology, reproduction and vascular biology.
