Alternate Careers in Science
Preparing Ph.D. Students for a Wide Array of Careers in Science
This seminar series is open to all graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
The University of Maryland, Baltimore has always been at the forefront of preparing graduate students for careers in science that extend beyond the traditional "path of academia". The Graduate Program in Life Sciences continues this tradition with new initiatives to ensure that our graduate students are highly prepared for and knowledgeable about their post-graduate career opportunities. The Alternative Careers in Science seminar series is open to all UMB graduate students, post-docs and faculty. The schedule of speakers is always diverse in the types of careers represented. Past speakers have relayed their personal experiences in biotechnology firms, pharmaceutical industries, scientific patent, legal council, venture capitalism, government agencies, start-up companies and more.
